St. Norbert Remains Unbeaten in MWC, Routs Beloit

DE PERE - St. Norbert College got the jump right from the start and went on to post a convincing 73-46 win over Beloit College in a Midwest Conference game at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights (9-1, 3-0 MWC), ranked No. 12 by D3hoops.com, have now won 39 of their last 51 games. The visiting Buccaneers dropped to 3-7, 1-2.

St. Norbert opened the game on an 8-0 run, and held Beloit scoreless for almost the game's first six minutes. Beloit would close the deficit to 10-7, but St. Norbert would go on a 17-0 run over a five-minute stretch to push ahead 27-7. Mike Brumm's conventional three-point play got the run started, and Chris Peterson's jumper capped the skein. St. Norbert led by as much as 33-12 in the first half before settling on a 35-15 halftime lead.

Beloit would get to within 43-26 with 13:56 left, but St. Norbert would go on a quick 7-1 spurt to put the game away. Brumm had another traditional three-point play with 12:14 left for a 50-27 lead.

St. Norbert shot 55.1 percent (27-for-49) from the floor and outrebounded Beloit 35-23. Dave Wipperfurth led St. Norbert with 13 points, while Brumm added 12 points and Paul Mallers 10. The Green Knights were 16-for-18 from the free-throw line and had just 10 turnovers.

Beloit shot 32.6 percent (15-for-46) from the floor and did not have a player score in double figures. David Bremner and Travis Towns each had nine points.
