Green Knights Lose 11-Point Second Half Lead, Game

RIPON - St. Norbert College couldn't hold an 11-point second-half lead and fell to Ripon College 62-61 in a Midwest Conference game at the Storzer Center.

The Green Knights fell to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in the Midwest Conference. Ripon improved to 7-3, 3-0.

St. Norbert went on a 10-0 run early in the second half to take a 42-31 lead on a Krista Pelky layup with 13:44 left. The Red Hawks answered with an 11-0 run over the next three minutes to tie the game at 42-42. The Green Knights eventually led 49-42 with 7:16 left, but Ripon would take its first second-half lead at 56-54 with 1:43 to go on a Brittany Johnson basket. The Red Hawks would hold the Green Knights off the rest of the way to claim the win.

Rachel Hermus led St. Norbert with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Emily Otzelberger added 12 points and nine rebounds. St. Norbert shot 47.2 percent (25-for-53) from the floor but was just 10-for-22 at the free-throw line and had 20 turnovers.

Ripon was led by Carissa Zuercher's 20 points. The Red Hawks shot just 37.7 percent (20-for-53) from the floor but made 7 of 15 3-pointers to St. Norbert's 1-for-11 and had just 12 turnovers.
