Men Tracksters Finish Third at UW-Whitewater Invite

WHITEWATER - The St. Norbert College men's track and field team finished in a tie for third at the UW-Whitewater Hawk Invitational.

St. Norbert finished with 71 points, which tied it for third with the University of Dubuque. Powerful North Central College was first with 272.5 points, while UW-Whitewater was second at 194.5 points.

Paul Leeman claimed the high jump championship with a leap of 1.84 meters, while Josh Zweiger was tied for third in the high jump at 1.79 meters.

St. Norbert had a pair of top-five finishers in the 400-meter dash, with Dann Schneider placing second with a time 50.93 seconds, while Ham Dowden was fifth at 52.73 seconds.

John Barrett picked up a third-place finish in the 800-meter finals with a time of 2:00.82. Alex Albers was also third, with his mark of 4.34 meters placing there in the pole vault.

Both the St. Norbert 4x200 and 4x400 relays placed fourth. Schneider, Ernest James, Jordan Gobert and Dustin Dessel ran a time of 1:35.63 in the 4x200. Tom Georgia, Schneider, Dowden and Steve Schumacher ran a time of 3:35.70 in the 4x400.
