WAUKESHA - St. Norbert College suffered through a cold first half of shooting and finished up the regular season with a 77-68 Midwest Conference loss to Carroll University at Van Male Fieldhouse.

The Green Knights, 20-3 overall and 14-2 in the MWC, will host Ripon College in a MWC Tournament semifinal game the evening of Feb. 26, with Carroll facing Lake Forest College in the other.

St. Norbert made just 8 of 24 shots in the first half, including 2 of 12 from beyond the three-point arc, to trail 32-20 at halftime. The Green Knights finished shooting 43.9 percent (25-for-57) for the game.

St. Norbert led 6-3 just over 5 minutes into the game on a Chris Peterson basket, but John Hoch's 3-pointer on the next possession jump-started a 12-0 Carroll run that put the Pioneers in control for good. Carroll would lead by as much as 15 points in the first half at 30-15.

The Green Knights would cut the deficit to 38-31 on a Dave Wipperfurth 3-pointer with 15:04 to go, but Carroll answered with a 10-0 run to take a 48-31 advantage and the game was never in question after that.

Hoch had 27 points for Carroll, which shot 55 percent (22-for-40) from the floor. Eric Thompson added 18 points for the Pioneers, who were 25-for-31 at the free-throw line.

Wipperfurth and John Taylor each had 15 points for St. Norbert, while Peterson added 12.
