MENOMONIE - Marc Belanger's blast from the left faceoff circle with 16 seconds left in regulation helped St. Norbert College salvage a 3-3 tie with UW-Stout in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Dunn County Ice Arena.

The Green Knights, ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com Poll, pushed their unbeaten streak to 21 at 17-0-4 since a 4-2 loss to Gustavus Adolphus on Nov. 3. St. Norbert is 19-1-4 overall and 9-0-4 in the NCHA.

Belanger's goal was an extra-attacker goal, although it was a 5-on-5 skaters situation with an empty net as Stout was on the power play. Tyler Allen won the faceoff back to Belanger, whose blast beat Stout goaltender Mike Stone.

Stout held a 1-0 lead after one period on a Nick Klaren goal, but St. Norbert answered with a pair of second-period markers from Ryan Petersen and Steven Sleep.

The Green Knights could not stay out of the penalty box however and Stout cashed in on a pair of power plays in the third period, getting goals from Klaren and Derek Hanson 1:09 apart midway through the period.

St. Norbert was 0-for-7 on the power play, and Stout was 2-for-10. The Green Knights killed off three 5-on-3 situations in the first two periods.

Blake Bashor made 25 saves for St. Norbert, while Stone turned away 26 shots for Stout (15-6-3, 7-4-2 NCHA).
