St. Norbert Sweeps Carroll in Wet Twinbill

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College continued its hold on first place in the Midwest Conference North Division with a doubleheader sweep of Carroll University at Green Bay Southwest High School's VandenPlas Field.

The Green Knights swept the pair of games by scores of 14-4 and 5-0. The nightcap, which was delayed for 1 hour 37 minutes by severe thunderstorms, was called after rain through five innings.

St. Norbert took an 8-0 lead after two innings in the opener, including five in the first. The first seven hitters of the inning reached for the Green Knights. Tony Jandron and Jared Yost had RBI singles, and Garrick Fisher followed with a two-run double. Ryan Way and Ryan Kehl also had RBI singles in the first. Kehl and Chris Hillesheim each had RBI singles in the second inning.

Carroll cut it to 8-3 in the fourth but St. Norbert answered with three runs in the fourth, getting a two-run single by Jordan Powers and an RBI single by Matt Hannon.

St. Norbert banged out 21 hits in the first game, getting three each from Jandron, Fisher, Way and Hillesheim. Powers, Hannon, Yost and Kehl each had two hits. Ryan Sullivan pitched a complete game, allowing nine hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

The Green Knights led 1-0 in the third inning of the second game when a severe thunderstorm warning was issued and the game was delayed. Immediately following the restart, Yost bashed a towering three-run home run to left for a 4-0 lead.

David Schneider pitched the complete-game shutout, allowing five hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Hannon was 3-for-3 with two RBIs in the contest.
