Green Knights Sweep Lawrence to Push Winning Streak to Six

DE PERE - St. Norbert College swept Lawrence University 8-5 and 12-2 at Mel Nicks Field to remain in first place in the Midwest Conference North Division.

St. Norbert (21-10, 11-3 MWC) scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to snap a 5-5 tie in the opener. With two outs and nobody on, Jordan Powers walked a stole second. Matt Hannon singled him home, and then stole second. Tony Jandron then stroked a two-run home run for an 8-5 lead.

The Green Knights scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jandron had an RBI single, Garrick Fisher an RBI double and Ryan Way a two-run single in the frame. Lawrence then took a 5-4 lead with two runs in the sixth before St. Norbert scored in the bottom of the inning on back-to-back doubles by Hannon and Jandron.

Trevin Hillesheim scattered 10 hits with three walks and four strikeouts to get the win, and Jandron worked the ninth for the save. Jandron was 4-for-4 with four RBIs, while Kehl and Hannon each had two hits.

Lawrence took a 2-0 lead in the fourth but St. Norbert cruised the rest of the way to win in eight innings. Ryan Gusick hit a two-run double and Tony Fedoruk had an RBI groundout in the fourth for a 3-2 lead. Fisher had a sacrifice fly and Way an RBI single in the fifth. The floodgates opened with a five-run seventh, with Powers' two run single breaking the game open for a 10-2 lead. Way then had a two-run single in the eighth to end the game.

Way was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Hannon was 2-for-4. Bryan Stoppenbach improved to 5-1 with a complete game, allowing six hits with five walks and three strikeouts.
