Green Knights Fall in Five Sets in MWC Tournament Championship

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - St. Norbert College suffered a tough 3-2 loss to Grinnell College in the championship match of the Midwest Conference Tournament at Cornell College's Multi-Sport Center.

The Green Knights, who finished their season 24-9, held a 2-1 lead before falling to the Pioneers 21-25, 25-21, 15-25, 25-21, 15-10. St. Norbert held fifth-set leads of 4-0 and 8-5 but couldn't hold off the Pioneers (26-4).

St. Norbert hit .212, with 51 kills and 19 errors in 151 attempts. Jessica Geurts had 15 kills, while Grace Baumann finished with 14. Emily Rohloff totaled 46 assists. Geurts added five service aces.

Liz Maastricht led the Green Knights with 26 digs, while Baumann had 23 and Rohloff 22. Geurts and Lexie Van Hiel had five blocks apiece, while Rohloff and Katelyn Hanrahan had four blocks each.

Grinnell hit .191, with 58 kills and 25 errors in 173 attempts. Kaylin Kuhn had a match-high 24 kills.
