"The Holy Goalie," Bishop Thomas Paprocki, Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago, to skate with St. Norbert College hockey team

He has skated with the Chicago Blackhawks and the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League. Now the "Holy Goalie" is coming to St. Norbert College to skate with head coach Tim Coghlin and the Green Knights hockey team.
An avid hockey player and fan, Bishop Thomas Paprocki, auxiliary bishop of Chicago, will don the green and gold and skate with the Green Knights on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 3:15 p.m. at the Cornerstone Community Center. He will also address the team about sports and faith.
Bishop Paprocki will take in St. Norbert College's hockey game with Bethel University on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. at the Cornerstone Community Center. The Rev. James Baraniak, pastor of St. Norbert College, sits on the board for Catholic Athletes for Christ. During the course of the school year, Baraniak will bring some of his board colleagues to the college to meet with respective St. Norbert athletes. First up is Bishop Paprocki, who happens to be a former classmate and friend of Bishop David Ricken, bishop of the Diocese of Green Bay.
The 57-year old "Holy Goalie" saves souls and goals. Bishop Thomas Paprocki plays in an over-30 hockey league and he also ran his 15th marathon last October. in Dublin, Ireland.
Bishop Paprocki says he's looking forward to his trip to De Pere, getting in the nets and having the Green Knights hockey team, "throw some pucks at me."
