The Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 5th annual BBJ magazine's "People You Should Know" awards tonight, honoring 31 local individuals including St. Norbert College professor of economics Kevin Quinn and Pat Olejniczak, director of sales and hotel services at the Kress Inn of St. Norbert College.

These honorees -- and the February/March 2010 issue of the BBJ magazine -- were unveiled at a reception hosted at the Swan Club at Legends in De Pere.

"Both Kevin and Pat are outstanding employees who in their respective fields exemplify St. Norbert College at its best," said college President Thomas Kunkel.

Quinn, who has been a member of the St. Norbert College economics faculty since 1994, is an expert in sports economics. He has presented papers at many national conferences and published numerous articles in professional publications. He is also director of the upcoming conference, "A Mirror of our Culture: Sport and Society in America," that will be held May 26-28. The conference is co-hosted by St. Norbert College and the Green Bay Packers.

Olejniczak has led the Kress Inn to its fifth straight prestigious 2010 Platinum Hospitality Award from world lodging leader Choice Hotels International, Inc., franchisor of the Ascend Collection brand. He was past chairman of the Wisconsin Innkeepers Association and currently serves on their board of directors.

This year's awards, entitled "20 + 10 People You Should Know in 2010," honored 21 individuals (due to a tie) who have more than 10 years of experience in their respective industries and have made a significant impact in their fields. The awards also honored 10 outstanding individuals with 10 or fewer years of experience. All honorees met criteria for which the BBJ "People You Should Know" awards are known, including accomplishments/contributions in their respective industries; spirit, drive, ambition, innovativeness and creativity; employment at Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce members; and residence or employment in Brown County.
"I'm pleased to celebrate the 5th anniversary of our BBJ magazine's 'People You Should Know' by honoring some of the mainstays in our community," said Paul Jadin, president, Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. "These individuals--all of whom have made a significant mark in their respective fields--play a significant role in making life 'Better on the Bay.' To all of them, I say, 'Congratulations.'"

Profiles of all the honored individuals -- including their photos -- are featured in an online version of the BBJ magazine, available at http://www.titletown.org.
