Times Editor to speak at St. Norbert College's Annual Literary Awards

Contributing editor Daniel Jones of the New York Times will appear as a guest speaker at the St. Norbert College 2010 Literary Awards on Thursday, April 29 at 8:00 p.m. in the Fort Howard Theatre, Bemis International Center on the college campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Jones has edited the "Modern Love" column in the Times' Sunday Styles section since its inception in October 2004. "Modern Love" is currently being developed as a scripted television series by Sony Pictures TV and as a full-length feature film by Columbia Pictures. Jones has also edited two essay anthologies, and his novel After Lucy was a finalist for the Barnes & Nobel Discover Award. He teaches on the fiction faculty in the MFA program at Queens University of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Awards for creative prose, poetry, and critical essays will be presented, as will the college's Mary McHale Wood Endowed Scholarship for Excellence in Writing and the Junior English Award. A reception and book signing by Jones will follow the awards ceremony.
