The Dudley Birder Choral of St. Norbert College has named Adalia Thao, a senior at Green Bay's Southwest High School, as recipient of the Robert and Carol Bush Vocal Music Award for 2010. She will be presented an award of $500 at the chorale's performance of "America Sings" on Saturday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Walter Theatre, Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts.

In addition to the prize, Thao's vocal music teacher, Erin Peters, will also receive $500 and Southwest High School will be presented $300 for its choral library.

This endowed award has been established for the Dudley Birder Chorale by Robert and Carol Bush to promote vocal music in schools. The recipients are selected from high schools located in communities represented by membership in the Dudley Birder Chorale. These communities include high schools from the counties of Brown, Outagamie, Kewaunee, Shawano, Door, Manitowoc and Oconto.

Auditions were held Sunday, April 18 at the college. Competing high school students were recommended by their teachers as the outstanding junior or senior vocal student in their school. Judges were Dudley Birder; Michael Barber, member of the Chorale's board of directors; Kent Paulsen, adjunct instructor of music at St. Norbert College; and Linda Feldmann, adjunct instructor of music at St. Norbert College.
