Open auditions and crew sign-up for the St. Norbert College Music Theatre production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" will be held at 7 p.m. May 25 and 26 in the Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts on campus.

"Joseph" calls for a cast of 20 men and 14 women, high school age to adult. It is an ensemble show, in which only Joseph (tenor range), the Narrator (mezzo soprano/alto), the Pharaoh (baritone -- Elvis impersonator) and Jacob/Potiphar (baritone) playing specific roles. All of the other solo spots are performed by members of the ensemble. Each member of the cast must sing well and have good movement skills, as the musical is sung throughout and the entire production is choreographed. Thirty-two children, selected through auditions held in March, will also participate in the production, completing a cast of 66 performers.

Persons auditioning should prepare a song of their choice and provide music for the staff accompanist. A prepared accompaniment is acceptable. All should wear comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes.

Those wishing to participate on one of the many supporting crews are invited to come to auditions and sign up. "Joseph" is a huge production and calls for many to work backstage on costumes, make-up, set construction, lighting, props and running stage crew.

Rehearsals begin Monday, June 7, and are held evenings, Monday through Friday. The musical will present eight performances, July 22-30.

"Joseph" will be the third summer Music Theatre production. Already in rehearsal, "Forever Plaid" and "Nunsense" will each play nine performance in the Webb Theater June 9-July 1.

Tickets for all three musicals are now on sale at the St. Norbert College ticket office, available at 920-403-3950 or 800-762-2699, or by going online to online tickets.snc.edu.
