St. Norbert College is now accepting nominations for the Civis Princeps Silver Knight Award which will be presented at the 2010 De Pere Community Night on Tuesday, Nov. 2. All nominations are due no later than Wednesday, Sept. 1.

Since 1968, De Pere Community Night has celebrated the relationship between St. Norbert College and the De Pere community. The Civis Princeps Silver Knight Award recognizes a resident of De Pere who exemplifies the Norbertine tradition of self-emptying service to the community. The award is bestowed upon an outstanding individual nominated by De Pere service clubs, civic organizations or other members of the community. The winner each year is selected by a vote of past recipients. Last year, Greg DeCleene was chosen and honored as the Silver Knight Award recipient for his humble devotion to helping individuals, families and groups in the De Pere and surrounding areas including the N.E.W. Community Shelter, Notre Dame and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic schools, St. Mary's Parish, the CP Center, Legends/Cellcom Charity Golf Outing, De Pere Rotary, among others.

Each nominee must be a De Pere resident for a minimum of five consecutive years who has demonstrated leadership, imagination and dedication and made a significant public service contribution to the community of De Pere and currently live in the De Pere Community. Letters of support and a summary of the nominee's community contributions should be included with the nomination form. Anyone, including individuals, service organizations and churches, can nominate individuals for this award. Previous nominees must be re-nominated.
