Thomas G. Kunkel, president of St. Norbert College, was officially named to the Green Bay Packers board of directors by shareholder vote at their annual meeting on July 29 in Green Bay, Wis.

Kunkel joins Thomas J. Cardella, 55, president of MillerCoors/Miller Brewing Company-Eastern Division and Jeffrey A. Joerres, 50, chairman/CEO of Manpower Inc., as the newest members of the board.

"These three individuals bring excellent credentials and skills to the board, give us additional representation from the Milwaukee area, and further strengthen our relationship with St. Norbert College," said Mark Murphy, the Packers' president and chief executive officer.

Kunkel, who is in his third year as president of St. Norbert College, is delighted to be a part of the historic Packers organization.

"Obviously this is a thrill for me personally, but I also appreciate that it is recognition of the long relationship between the Packers and St. Norbert College."

The Packers have held their summer training camp at St. Norbert College for 53 years, the longest such relationship between a pro football team and a college in the NFL.
The Packers and St. Norbert also teamed up in May to host a first-of-its-kind Sport and Society conference, which was held at Lambeau Field and St. Norbert College.

Thomas Manion, former president of St. Norbert College, is a trustee emeritus for the Packer board.

Kunkel is an avid sports fan. Earlier this summer he was invited to throw out the first pitch at a Milwaukee Brewers baseball game.
