Jack Walsh has been named the 2010 Civis Princeps Silver Knight Award winner at St. Norbert College. Walsh will be honored at the De Pere Community Night dinner and award ceremony in the Sensenbrenner Memorial Union on Tuesday, Nov. 2. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m., with a cocktail hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. The dinner is open to the public, and reservations must be made by Tuesday, Oct. 19.
This year's award recipient, Jack Walsh, has been quietly devoted to serving the De Pere community for decades. He has graciously served in many capacities ranging from civic posts to memberships in various organizations including the De Pere City Council, Kiwanis Club, Golden K Club, NEW Community Shelter, De Pere School District, St. Francis Parish, De Pere Little League, United Way of Brown County, Russell Brennan Kidney Transplant Fundraiser and the Nicolet Federated Library of Brown County, among others. It is Jack's community involvement, volunteerism, strong faith and respect of the citizens of De Pere that have made him a successful community leader.
The Silver Knight Award ceremony was initiated in 1967 by St. Norbert College president Dennis M. Burke, O.Praem., to acknowledge those people in our community who have gone the extra mile to make this a better world in which to live. De Pere Community Night recognizes a resident of De Pere who exemplifies the Norbertine tradition of self-emptying service to the community.
The cost of the dinner is $18 per person, with a cash bar. For more information or to make reservations, contact Nina Nolan in the Office of Communications at St. Norbert College at (920) 403-4011.
