St. Norbert College's Peace and Justice Center is sponsoring Poverty Awareness Week Nov. 8-12. Throughout the week, a number of events open to the college and community will be held to raise consciousness of the reality of poverty in the world. All events are free.
The HBO film "Homeless: The Motel Kids of Orange County," produced by Alexandra Pelosi, daughter of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, will be shown Thursday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. in front of St. Norbert College's Main Hall. After the film, a discussion led by Alison Draheim of the Green Bay School District will be held to talk about homelessness in Green Bay, Wis. and the surrounding area. Draheim co-leads a local coalition to address homelessness in Green Bay.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Ray Van Den Heuvel Family Campus Center on campus.
