St. Norbert College to host development event for hispanic/latino students

St. Norbert College's Office of Multicultural Student Services, in collaboration with the Office of Admission, will hold "Para un Futuro Mejor" (For a Better Future): a leadership development and community event for Hispanic/Latino students on Friday, March 4, from 9:30 a.m.to 2 p.m. Hispanic/Latino high school juniors and seniors from across the greater Green Bay area, Appleton, and Waukegan, Ill., will be attending the event. St. Norbert College will provide transportation and lunch.

The agenda for the day includes arrival at 9:30 a.m., the keynote address at 10:15 a.m., lunch, and various workshops from 1 p.m. until departure at 2 p.m. The keynote speaker is Carlos Ojeda Jr., an activist-scholar whose presentations provide a critical and multi-contextual framework for empowerment and education, while addressing issues of diversity and social justice; cross-and inter-cultural unity; knowledge representation and equity; leadership and youth development; and multiculturalism.
