This Thursday, April 7, nearly 400 Wisconsin students from Wisconsin's 20 private nonprofit colleges and universities are expected in the Capitol to meet with their hometown legislators about the importance of the Wisconsin Tuition Grant (WTG) for their future and for Wisconsin's future.

The event is organized by the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU) and is part of a collaborative partnership among WAICU, the United Council of UW Students, and the Wisconsin Technical College District Boards Association. The united campaign is called Protect Financial Aid.

"Private colleges in this state receive no operating support from taxpayers, but we are committed to working together to advance educational opportunity for all Wisconsin students," said WAICU president Dr. Rolf Wegenke.

"The key to economic growth in this era of the "Knowledge Economy" is increased educational opportunity," Wegenke concluded.
