St. Norbert College junior Yitian Na, of Heilongjiang, China, took part in a three-day conference in Strarsbourg, France to discus differences in U.S. and European environmental policies.

Na studies with the study abroad program BCA (Bridge Connect Act) in Marburg, Germany, and was awarded a BCA fellowship to attend the conference. Na joined 50 students and speakers from North America and Europe in the 8th Annual European-U.S. student conference organized by BCA.

Speakers from several European countries spoke with students on the current state of environmental policy, and the students later had the opportunity to explore and discus their own perspectives and questions about these issues.

The opening lecture was given by U.S. diplomat Vincent Carter, the United States Consul General in Strasbourg, on the topic "The U.S. and the EU -- Indispensable Partners." Renowned British photographer, Mark Edwards, provided an audio and visual presentation "The Hard Rain Project," enhanced by Bob Dylan's famous song, "A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall," challenging students to "reinvent the world so that it's compatible with nature and human nature."
