The Girls Leadership and Development Summer Camp (G.L.A.D.) for girls in grades 1-8 will be held at St. Norbert College July 5-15.

The primary focus of the camp is to build self-esteem and leadership skills, develop positive self-image, make healthy choices through fitness and nutritious eating, set high-reaching goals and improve science and math skills. The camp will be taught by Wisconsin certified young women teachers who have been chosen for their ability to be great role models.

"As a mother of four daughters, I am very aware of the challenges and pressures that girls face today," says Deb Kunkel, wife of St. Norbert College president Thomas Kunkel. "We believe it will be a transformative experience for the girls, instilling a can-do spirit and confidence that will stay with them as they mature into young women prepared to make good choices."

Scholarships are available on a first come, first served basis to ensure that girls from disadvantaged backgrounds will be equally able to benefit from the experience.

The Girls Leadership and Development Summer Camp will be held each morning from Tuesday, July 5 until Friday, July 15, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All camp activities will take place on the St. Norbert College campus. Registration is $120, which includes a daily snack, a camp T-shirt and an end-of-camp family celebration.
