The Cassandra Voss Center Foundation will present its second annual benefit concert starring the musical duo Sam & Ruby on Thursday, May 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Walter Theatre, Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts, on the St. Norbert College campus. Seats are $20 ($10 for students), and the event is open to the public. The concert will benefit the fundraising efforts for the proposed Cassandra Voss Center.
Cassandra Voss would have graduated in 2008 as the first St. Norbert College student with a major in women's and gender studies; she lost her life in a car accident in May 2007. Cassandra was an artist, a dreamer, a lover of beauty and a seeker of justice.
The planned Cassandra Voss Center will seek to establish, with collaboration from other college units and organizations, the preeminence of St. Norbert College as a leader in gender equity. To accomplish this, the Center will connect theory, research, experiential learning, co-curricular development, and practical application on matters that pertain to men and women.
The concert will offer the St. Norbert and Greater Green Bay communities a chance to join in celebrating Cassandra's spirit and learn more about the
project.
Award-winning, Nashville-based duo Sam & Ruby gently blend folk, country and soul into a sound that is immediately warm and welcoming.
They tour extensively nationwide and are frequent performers in the Green Bay area.
