De Pere: The St. Norbert Community Band presents a fall concert Monday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Walter Theatre, Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts. Under the direction of Frederick Schmidt, the area community band will perform works by John Philip Sousa, Thom Ritter George, Vincent Persichetti and Gustar Holst. The concert will also feature euphonium soloist Kelly Biese, a St. Norbert College graduate and a member of the Junction Brass Quartet. The group was formed in 1991 to provide an opportunity for outstanding musicians from Northeastern Wisconsin to experience the finest available band literature. The band is comprised of area professional musicians and educators, and St. Norbert College Music Department alumni, faculty, and friends. Membership is by invitation of the conductor. The St. Norbert Community Band has been selected twice to perform for the Wisconsin State Music Conference and for national conventions of the Association of Concert Bands.
