St. Norbert College announces lecture with former NCAA leader Judy Sweet

St. Norbert College welcomes this year's "Power of the Purse" keynote speaker, Judy Sweet, to campus on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m. Sweet will present her lecture "From Tomboy to NCAA President: Lessons Learned" in the Fort Howard Theater in the F.K. Bemis International Conference Center on the college campus.

The following day, Sweet will be the keynote speaker at the Women's Fund of Greater Green Bay's "Power of the Purse" event at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Green Bay. "The Power of the Purse" event is just one of several programs put on by the Women's Fund that offers donors the opportunity to directly help women and girls in the Greater Green Bay community. It includes lunch and a silent auction.

Sweet is a respected and distinguished leader in intercollegiate athletics. Sweet most recently served as NCAA senior vice president for championships and education services, retiring in 2006. Before her time with the NCAA, Sweet served 24 years as the director of athletics at University of California, San Diego. In conjunction with the NCAA's Centennial Celebration in 2006, Sweet was named one of the 100 most influential student-athletes, and in 2007 was named one of the 100 most influential sports educators in America by the Institute for International Sports.

Sweet is a native of Milwaukee, Wis., and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Her lecture at St. Norbert College is open to the public. Students, faculty and staff are also invited.
