Rev. Jim Neilson, assistant professor of art, and four art majors from St. Norbert College will judge the third annual Green Bay Packers art contest celebrating National Youth Art Month. This year's theme is "Pick Your Packer."

The contest is open to kids in grades K-12, and art will be judged in four grade levels: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. All work will be judged on creativity, originality and overall impression.

Rev. Neilson has been judging the contest since it began two years ago, and will have the help of four art majors studying at St. Norbert College: Paige M. Peerenboom (Little Chute, Wis.), Geri Sundstrom (Green Bay, Wis.), Ben Erickson (Neenah, Wis.) and Devon Englebretson (Owen, Wis.).

Neilson says he is "glad to work in partnership with the Packers and in the promotion of the visual arts in elementary and secondary education; naturally, I believe art is critical to the formation of active and vivid imaginations and the local community does well to encourage its younger members to give expression to their ideas, thoughts and hopes."

Winner's will have their artwork highlighted in the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame during the month of March and will receive four complementary passes to the Hall of Fame and a $100 gift card to the Packers Pro Shop.

Registration is open from now until Jan. 31, 2012. Winners will be notified on Feb. 20.

For more information contact Rev. Neilson at james.neilson@snc.edu or 920-403-4049.
