St. Norbert College Presents “Understanding Somali Culture”

St. Norbert College Language Services will present a workshop, "Understanding Somali Culture," on Saturday, Feb. 9, 9 a.m.-noon in the Bemis International Center on the St. Norbert College campus. The workshop is $30 per person and is open to the entire community.

Somali native Hamida Ismael will lead the workshop. Ismael came to the United States twelve years ago during Somali's civil war. Since then, she has obtained a Bachelor of Arts from The Ohio State University, and a master's degree in French literature and a graduate certificate in gender and women studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is also certified in conflict management and crisis intervention in addition to her certification in interpreting English, Arabic, Somali and French. In July 2011, she moved to Green Bay and now works for the Green Bay School District.

Registrations and payments for the workshop must be received by Feb. 4.
