St. Norbert College student Connor Romenesko of Barrington, Ill., was named a 2013 Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact.

Romenesko was nominated by St. Norbert College President Thomas Kunkel for his passion for positive change and his visibility on campus. Romenesko is president of his fraternity, an elected representative to the Student Government Association and an intern in the Norman Miller Center for Peace, Justice and Public Understanding. He has taken a leadership role in promoting human rights by advocating for issues such as healthcare and international aid, and working to curb violence against women. He has served in inner-city Chicago schools, as well as in St. Lucia through the college's TRIPS program.

Campus Compact is a national coalition of almost 1,200 college and university presidents who are committed to fulfilling the civic purposes of higher education. Campus Compact is the only national higher education association dedicated solely to campus-based civic engagement and is sponsored by the KPMG Foundation.
