Langauage Services at St. Norbert College to Offer Fall Programs, Classes for Children

St. Norbert College Language Services will offer foreign-language programs for children this fall.
The Pre-Collegiate Children's Language Institute will teach before- and after-school language classes in Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese and Italian to first through sixth-graders during the school year. Classes are taught by St. Norbert College students majoring in foreign languages and/or education. The program is based on a nationally recognized elementary language curriculum and uses art, music, games and other activities to teach languages.
Classes will be offered at the following elementary schools during the 2013-14 school year:
Langlade Elementary: Spanish, Monday and Wednesday before school.
Lincoln Elementary: Spanish, Tuesday and Thursday after school.
Beaumont Elementary: Spanish, Monday and Wednesday after school.
Martin Elementary: Spanish, Tuesday and Thursday before school
McAuliffe Elementary: Spanish, Tuesday and Thursday before school.
Wrightstown Elementary: Spanish, Tuesday and Thursday after school.
Fall 2013 classes run twice a week for eight weeks from Sept. 16 through the week of Nov. 11. The cost for the program is $90 and includes all instruction and materials. Classes are also offered after school on the St. Norbert campus one day each week for $45.
Language Services will also present Passports to the World Day Camp. This language and culture program is especially for children ages 5-11. Taught by St. Norbert College students, it combines a basic language curriculum with cultural activities to explore various areas of the world. The program runs on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon from Oct. 12 to Nov. 16. The cost is $95 per student. The fee includes instruction, all course materials, a T-shirt and certificate of completion.
Registrations for any of the programs must be received by Wednesday, Sept. 11.
