The St. Norbert College theatre program will present a new adaptation of Nikolai Gogol's hilarious satire "The Inspector General" starting Friday, Nov. 1, and running through Saturday, Nov. 9, in the Webb Theatre, Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts on the St. Norbert College campus.

All shows will be held at 7:30 p.m. with the exception of Sunday, Nov. 3, when a 2 p.m. matinee will be presented, followed by a discussion with the cast that will be lead by St. Norbert College assistant professor of political science Wendy Scattergood.

The Inspector General receives a modern makeover in this adaptation by Michael Chemers. When the corrupt city council of a mid-sized American town mistakes a penniless drifter for a federal accountability agent, there is a slap-dash scramble to the bottom. In an era when political news often includes the words "indicted," "scandal" and "Appalachian Trail," Chemers' adaptation rings uncomfortably and hilariously, true.

Stephen Rupsch, assistant professor of theatre studies and director of theatre will direct the production, with scenography by assistant professor of theatre studies April Beiswenger and technical direction by Corey Pinchart.

The crew and cast include Sophie Ahlberg (Stockholm), Sarah Amann, (Oak Forest, Ill.), Kelly Anderson (St. Paul, Minn.), Molly Barnes (Valders, Wis.), Shaina Beckers (Green Bay, Wis.), Quinn Bukouricz (Luxemburg, Wis.),Olivia D'Andrea (Chicago), Samuel Evers (Appleton, Wis.), Andrea Fietzer (Neenah, Wis.), Kerry Galvin (Lockport, Ill.), Samantha Kolb (Neenah, Wis.), Ben Lepak (Saukville, Wis.), Bryant McCray (Chicago), Hannah Nathan (Fort Atkinson, Wis.), Shelby Ney (Mishicot, Wis.), Michael O'Malley (De Pere, Wis.), Caylin Parrish (De Pere, Wis.), Scarlett Pisarek (Greendale, Wis.), Hanna Raczek (Mosinee, Wis.), Ryan Penkal (Germantown, Wis.), Jordan Podoll (Berlin, Wis.), Yvonne Stapleton-Polack (Eagle River, Wis.), Erich Wegenke (Sun Prairie, Wis.) and Clara Wendland (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.)
