St. Norbert College's art curator, Shan Bryan-Hanson, was awarded a $6,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to conduct a preservation assessment of the college's art collections. The assessment will help ensure that the college's holdings of approximately 1,000 works of art are being properly cared for and preserved.
The grant will pay for the Midwest Art Conservation Center of Minneapolis to conduct the assessment, which will survey the condition of the artwork, the climate conditions of the facilities in which the works are stored and exhibited, and the policies and procedures that are in place to protect and preserve the collection.

The college's collection includes works by Ben Shahn, Alexander Calder, Claes Oldenburg, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and Frederick Hart, as well as illuminated manuscripts from medieval France that represent the college's Norbertine heritage. The collection also houses sculptures, ceramics, textiles and decorative objects.

For more information, contact Shan Bryan-Hanson at 920-403-3072 or shan.bryan-hanson@snc.edu.
