Language Services at St. Norbert College to Offer February Workshops

St. Norbert College Language Services will hold the following events this February for the general public:

Soups and Stews: Monday, Feb. 3, 5-8 p.m., YWCA kitchen, 230 S. Madison St., Green Bay. In this workshop, participants will learn to make a sweet Russian borscht, Indian curry soup, English onion soup with biscuits and an African peanut soup. The cost of the class is $40 per person. Register by Jan. 28.

Perfect Pastries for Couples: Tuesday, Feb. 11, 5-8 p.m., Brown County Culinary Kitchen, 2900 Curry Lane, Green Bay. Participants will learn how to cook a variety of pastries with their partner in time for Valentine's Day. The cost for the class is $70 per couple. Register by Feb. 4.

Globetrotter Friday: Friday, Feb. 21, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., St. Norbert College campus. Globetrotter Friday is a cultural enrichment program for children ages 11-14 that consists of a full-day workshop taught by experienced educators and St. Norbert College students. The program gives participants a virtual trip around the world through a variety of cultural activities. The cost is $20 per child, which includes lunch. Class size is limited to 30 students.

Oneida Ceremonies: Saturday, Feb. 22, 9 a.m.-noon, St. Norbert College campus. This class will explain the Oneida story of how the Creator sent a messiah to provide order on earth through the Four Sacred Rituals. The workshop will relate the story of the rituals and the cycle of major ceremonies that the Iroquois practice throughout the year and every day. The cost for the workshop is $30 per person; $20 for St. Norbert College students, faculty, staff and alumni. Register by Feb. 14.

Fresh Italian Pasta: Tuesday, Feb. 25, 5:30-8 p.m., Brown County Culinary Kitchen, 2900 Curry Lane, Green Bay. Italy native Paola Vianello will give an overview of all things pasta. Participants will learn how to create dishes with both dry and fresh pastas including tagliatelle, pappardelle, lasagna and ravioli. The cost of the class is $40 per person. Register by Feb. 18.

Breakfast in New Orleans: Wednesday, Feb. 26, 6-8:30 p.m., Kroc Center, 1315 Lime Kiln Rd., Green Bay. Louisiana native Chef Ace Champion will demonstrate how to create a Creole brunch featuring favorites such as beignets and Bananas Foster. The cost for the class is $40 per person. Register by Feb. 19.
