The Norman Miller Center for Peace, Justice & Public Understanding at St. Norbert College will present its 2014 Ambassador of Peace award to Deacon Juan Barajas. The presentation and reception will take place at Dudley Birder Hall from 5 to 6:30 p.m., and will be free and open to the public. It will include a lecture by Barajas entitled "Immigration: A Faith Perspective."

The award is in recognition of Barajas' ministry to and advocacy for Mexican immigrants in New Mexico spanning the past three decades. Deacon Barajas has also trained more than 500 lay leaders and created Spanish religious education programs in more than a dozen parishes. He has been previously honored by the Mexican consulate, the U.S. Census Bureau, the Republic of Honduras and the New Mexico Commission for Human Rights, among other organizations.
