More than 180 students attended the St. Norbert College Dance Marathon on Saturday, Oct. 25, staying on their feet from 9 a.m. to 10:06 p.m. -- a total of 13.1 hours, the hourly equivalent to half of a running marathon's 26.2 miles. By the end of that time, the marathon had raised $34,645.02, well above the organizers' projected goal of $30,000. All proceeds from the event will go to the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

Fourteen families whose children receive care from the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin attended the event. In solidarity, fourteen of the students who attended the marathon decided to shave/cut their hair and donate it to children with cancer.

The St. Norbert College Dance Marathon is an entirely student-run event, planned and managed by a student organization of about 40 members. The college's first marathon, in 2013, raised a total of $21,372.01. With the funds, the Children's Miracle Network was able to purchase a Total Body Cooling Unit -- which has been proven to decrease disability or death in infants born with moderate to severe asphyxia -- and an EKG machine, which is used to monitor the electrical activity of the heart.
