For the first time in its history, St. Norbert College is hosting the Green Bay area's annual Community Kwanzaa Celebration. The celebration will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 3-5 p.m. in the Michels Commons ballroom on the St. Norbert College campus. The event will include music, food and cultural education. It is free and open to the public.
Kwanzaa is a seven-day celebration designed to celebrate African heritage and cultural values. It was created by Maulana Karenga in 1966. A key theme of the celebration is Kujichagulia, or self-determination--the right to define, name, create and speak for oneself.
The event is sponsored by St. Norbert College Multicultural Student Services, Student Allocations, UW-Green Bay and NWTC.

For more information, contact Brittany Bell, assistant director of Multicultural Student Services at St. Norbert College, by phone at (920) 403-3232, or by email at brittany.bell@snc.edu, or visit http://www.snc.edu/multicultural/.
