by Erich Wegenke, erich.wegenke@snc.edu, 920-403-3089

The Dudley Birder Chorale, the St. Norbert College Chamber Singers and the college's Men's and Women's Choruses will present a program of choral masterworks in the St. Norbert Abbey church at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 8.

Works performed at the concert will include John Rutter's "Gloria"; an original work, "August Moonrise," by St. Norbert College composer-in-residence Blake Henson; "Psalm 150" by Cesar Franck, arranged by Dudley Birder, and a variety of other choral songs.

The performance is designed to fit the special acoustics of the St. Norbert Abbey church, creating a musical experience similar to that found in Italian cathedrals.

The concert will be conducted by Dudley Birder and Sarah Parks, assistant professor of music and director of the music program at St. Norbert College. It will feature an eight-piece professional brass ensemble, as well as several members of the St. Norbert faculty: Jeffrey Verkuilen, organ; Yi-Lan Niu, soprano; Elaine Moss and Kent Paulsen, piano and Stephen Westergan, cello.

Admission to the concert is $14, or $10 in groups of 10 or more. Tickets can be purchased at the St. Norbert College Box Office by calling 920-403-3950, online at http://tickets.snc.edu, or at the door one hour prior to each concert (cash or check only).
