St. Norbert College will host a leadership development day for Hispanic and Latino high school students, titled "Para un Futuro Mejor" or "For a Better Future," on Thursday, March 12. The college's office of multicultural student services, which organized the event, describes its goal as inspiring Hispanic and Latino students to pursue their dreams through higher education. Over 200 Hispanic and Latino students from Green Bay, Appleton and Milwaukee high schools will visit the St. Norbert College campus to participate in a day of activities; the college will provide transportation and lunch for the participants.

The agenda for the day includes a tour of the college campus at 9 a.m., a keynote address at 10 a.m., lunch at 11:15 a.m., and a variety of panels and workshops from 12:15 p.m. to departure at 2:15 p.m.

The event's keynote speaker is Lina Traslaviña-Stover, a poet, educator and motivational speaker currently pursuing her Ph.D. in sociology. She will discuss her journey from Colombia to the United States to attend college, and what it takes to become a successful college student.

For more information on the event, contact Bridgit Martin at the St. Norbert College office of multicultural student services, at 920-403-4023 or bridgit.martin@snc.edu. A full biography of Traslaviña-Stover is available at http://www.coolspeakers.net/services/speakers/lina-traslavina-stover.
