The Dudley Birder Chorale of St. Norbert College has announced Joseph Krohlow, a student at Appleton North High School, as the recipient of the 2015 Robert and Carol Bush Vocal Music Award. Krohlow will be presented with an award of $500 at the chorale's performance of "America Sings" on Friday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Walter Theatre of the Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts on the college campus, where he will appear as a featured soloist.

Along with Krohlow's award, his vocal music teacher Amber Evey Schmidt will also receive $500, and Appleton North High School will be presented with $300 for its choral library.

Robert and Carol Bush established the endowed program that provides the award for the Dudley Birder Chorale in 2003. The program's aim is to promote vocal music within high schools, choosing from the communities represented by membership within the chorale. These communities include high schools from the counties of Brown, Outagamie, Kewaunee, Shawano, Door, Manitowoc and Oconto.

Auditions for the award were held on Sunday, April 26, at St. Norbert College. Outstanding junior and senior vocal students were encouraged by their teachers to audition. Judges for the award were Kent Paulsen, Chad Lemerande, Lee Anne Scovell, Charles Hagen and Dudley Birder.
