St. Norbert College has entered into a partnership with the Green Bay Film Festival, and will host the three-day event on campus on March 4, 5 and 6, 2016.

Founded in 2011, the Green Bay Film Festival is committed to offering independent filmmakers a chance to showcase their work, and offering the public a chance to view a wide variety of cinema and interact with the filmmakers. The festival celebrated its fifth anniversary in March 2015. More than 450 films were submitted to the 2015 festival, including several from international filmmakers, and more than 1,500 people attended the event.

The 2016 festival will welcome volunteers from the college and the community to help in various roles. People who enjoy watching movies can volunteer to help screen submissions. Those who volunteer in this capacity will be required to view a variety of films -- including shorts, documentaries and full-length features -- and submit a rating sheet, which will help determine which films are selected to be screened at the festival. Volunteering to screen submissions will involve a time commitment of about three hours per week from July to October. Volunteers will also be asked to attend an orientation on how to access and play films on a variety of platforms, as well as a workshop on critiquing films, both available in June. At the festival's welcome reception, volunteers will have the opportunity to meet many of the filmmakers who submitted entries.
