Heinrich Von Staden will visit the St. Norbert College campus to deliver a lecture as part of the college's annual Killeen Chair series.

Von Staden will lecture on "What is Health? Ancient and Modern Perspectives." The lecture will take place on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. in the Fort Howard Theater in the Bemis International Center on the St. Norbert College campus. It is free and open to the public.

Von Staden is a Professor Emeritus of classics and history of science at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University.

This lecture is the second installment of the Killeen Chair of Theology and Philosophy's five-part 2015-16 lecture series, which is titled "Health and the Human Person." The aim of the series is to investigate the uncertainty about the nature of health and its relation to human well being; it invites the community to join leading scholars who are harmonizing medicine and the humanities as they work to nurture health in its most robust form.

Established in 1984, the Killeen Chair of Theology and Philosophy is dedicated to providing a fuller understanding of theological and philosophical issues by bringing scholars to campus to speak in the fields of biology, psychology, economics, political science, the arts and literature. The wide range of guest scholars invited to the St. Norbert College campus emphasizes the importance of a liberal arts education.

The Killeen Chair is named after the late Sylvester Killeen, O.Praem., the second abbot of St. Norbert Abbey and then-chancellor of the college.
