On Friday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m., the Cassandra Voss Center (CVC) will host Joe Samalin, senior program manager at Breakthrough, a global human rights network out of New York City and Indiana. The event will occur at 3 p.m. in the Fort Howard Theater on the St. Norbert College campus; Samalin will present "That's Not Funny! Humor, Satire & Sexual Violence." It is free and open to the public.
Samalin will investigate how society should talk about sexual violence, and will use comedy clips to explore where, if and how comedy works when talking about violence.

Samalin has also worked with the U.S. National Committee for U.N. Women, the national organization Men Can Stop Rape, and is featured in the digital publications "The Good Men Project" and "Masculinity U."

The Cassandra Voss Center, established in 2013, houses the Joan P. Schaupp Women's Center, the Men's Initiative, the women's and gender studies discipline and other student amenities. The CVC honors Cassandra Voss who lost her life in a car accident in 2007 during her senior year at St. Norbert College. Voss was to be the first student on campus to complete an individualized major in women's and gender studies.
