Language Services at St. Norbert College to Offer November Cooking Classes & Culture Enrichment Program

St. Norbert College Language Services will hold the following events in Nov. for the general public:

Sausage-making cooking class: Tuesday, Nov. 3, 6-8 p.m. at the Brown County Culinary Kitchen in Green Bay. Door County native Gary Guth will teach participants how to make fresh homemade sausage without the "surprise" ingredients that store-bought sausages often contain, and just in time for deer-hunting season. The cost is $40 per person.

Beginning candy-making cooking class: Tuesday, Nov. 10, 5-7:30 p.m. on the St. Norbert College campus. Prepare for the holiday season by taking part in this hands-on experience of basic candy-making. The cost is $40 per person.

Fall bounty: cooking with squash/pumpkin: Tuesday, Nov. 17, 5-7:30 p.m. at the UW-Extension Kitchen in Green Bay. Area chef and culinary instructor Jon Lutgen demonstrates a wide range of preparations for autumn's most prized vegetables -- including squash ravioli, pumpkin soup and a squash galette. The cost is $40 per person.

Globetrotting for middle-Schoolers: Friday, Nov. 20, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on the St. Norbert College campus. Globetrotter Friday is a culture-enrichment program for children ages 11-14, taught by experienced educators and St. Norbert students. The cost of the program is $20 per student, which includes lunch and is limited to 30 students.

Danish pastries cooking class: Monday, Nov. 30, 5:30- 7:30 p.m. at Brown County Culinary Kitchen in Green Bay. Make authentic Danish-style pastries under the guidance of Chef Jon Lutgen. He'll share techniques for cake-like pastries, choux pastry with marzipan, almond tea cakes and more. The cost is $40 per person.
