St. Norbert College Students to Visit Chicago for Urban Education TRIPS Service Program

Nine St. Norbert College students will visit Chicago from Saturday, Jan. 9 to Friday, Jan. 15, as part of the TRIPS alternative break service program. While there, participants will serve as classroom aides at St. Benedict the African School, an urban Chicago school.

Participants in the Chicago trip are listed below.

Trip Leaders: Emily Steffanus (New London, Wis.), Allison Parra (Oconomowoc, Wis.)

Other Participants: Alecia Cherney (Luxemburg, Wis.), Bekah Cleaver (Elroy, Wis.), Guadalupe Dorado (Green Bay, Wis.), Courtney Makowski (Menominee, Mich.), Rebecca Simpson (Black Creek, Wis.), Kelly Theel (Elkhart Lake, Wis.) and Lauren Wargin (Two Rivers, Wis.)

TRIPS (an acronym for Turning Responsibility Into Powerful Service) is an alternative break program organized by the Sturzl Center for Community Service and Learning at St. Norbert College. It is designed to give students the opportunity to put their beliefs into action through service and solidarity with various communities. TRIPS challenges students to participate in a week or more of service in areas throughout the United States and the world.
