St. Norbert College Community Outreach & Language Services Presents February Workshops

St. Norbert College Community Outreach & Language Services will present a variety of workshops this February, highlighting various aspects of cultures and traditions from around the world and including several cooking classes. The workshops, which are open to the general public, are listed below.
Soups Around the World Cooking Class

Tuesday, Feb. 16, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the UW-Extension kitchen in Green Bay. Feeling that February chill? The Soups Around the World class, led by local chef Jon Lutgen, will provide a variety of hot and hearty soups to keep the February chills away. Participants will be taught how to make two classics: chicken noodle soup and some tasty chowder! The cost of the workshop is $35. The registration deadline is Feb. 9.
Booyah! Cooking Class

Saturday, Feb. 20, 10 a.m.- noon at Southern Door High School in Brussels. In this workshop, led by booyah experts John and Barb Maskell, participants will learn how to cook an authentic Belgian chicken booyah. This is the perfect hearty meal, not one to be underestimated, and will keep you feeling warm and cozy in the freezing month of February. The cost of the workshop is $40. The registration deadline is Feb. 11.

The Priority of Universal Human Rights in Today's World

Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, 6-8 p.m. on the St. Norbert College campus. Participants will join St. Norbert College's own Robert Pyne, Th.D., to learn more about the history and future of human rights discourse in the midst of both globalization and fragmentation in today's world. The cost of the workshop is $30. The registration deadline is Feb. 11.

Fresh Flavors From the Grill Cooking Class

Thursday, Feb. 25, 5-7:30 p.m. on the St. Norbert College campus. Taught by St. Norbert College chefs Rick Humke and Tom Van, the Fresh Flavors From the Grill class will give participants the how-to's about grilling, and what they need to know to host a great grill party. The cost of the workshop is $40; the registration deadline is Feb. 18.

St. Norbert College & the Norbertines

Saturday, Feb. 27, 10 a.m.-noon on the St. Norbert College campus. Led by Rosemary Sands, D.M.L., assistant director of the Center for Norbertine Studies. This workshop will provide an introduction to St. Norbert of Xanten, the growth of the Norbertine order throughout the world and Abbot Bernard Pennings, the founder of St. Norbert College. The cost of the workshop is $30; the registration deadline is Feb. 19.
