The St. Norbert College music department will present two student recitals on the afternoon of Friday, March 11, at Dudley Birder Hall on the college campus. The first recital, at 3:30 p.m., will feature juniors Katie Gajdostik on piano and Jaime Notzen on clarinet. It will be followed by a second recital at 5:30 p.m., which will feature juniors Emma Philipps on saxophone and Charlie DeVillers on tuba. Both performances are free and open to the public.
At the first recital, Gajdostik will perform selections from the works of Béla Bartók, Ernő Dohnányi, Johannes Brahms, Frederic Chopin and Bedřich Smetana. Notzen will perform songs by Carl Maria von Weber, Sir Malcolm Arnold and Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn, accompanied by Mary Slavek. This recital represents a culmination of Gajdostik's work for the music liberal arts degree, and of Notzen's work towards a music minor.
At the second recital, Philipps will perform songs by Paul Bonneau, Gabriel Fauré, Claude Debussy and Nathaniel Shilkret, accompanied by Elaine Moss. She will also perform the jazz standard "Chattanooga Choo Choo" as part of a saxophone quartet. DeVillers will perform songs by Edward Gregson, Barbara York, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Vittorio Monti, accompanied by Connor Klavekoski. Both Philipps and DeVillers are music education majors.
