Artistic director Dudley Birder has announced the two smash-hit Broadway musicals that will make up St. Norbert College Music Theatre's summer 2016 season.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's all-time hit musical "Cats," directed and choreographed by Alicia Birder, will play eight performances in the Webb Theatre of the Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts on the St. Norbert College campus, June 22-30. Following the production of "Cats," James P. Birder will direct a production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning "Into the Woods," scheduled for five performances in the Walter Theatre of the Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts, July 20-24.

"Into the Woods" auditions will be in the Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts at 6:30 p.m. on May 31 and June 1. The musical calls for a cast of approximately 22 performers. "Cats" auditions took place on March 5 and 7.

Those interested in working backstage on costumes, makeup, lighting, sets and running crew are invited to sign up at auditions. Rehearsals for "Cats" begin May 16; rehearsals for "Into the Woods" begin June 13.

Founded by Dudley Birder in 1962, St. Norbert College Music Theatre is the oldest musical theatre organization in Wisconsin. Throughout its history, it has presented more than 800 performances of more than 75 musical productions, relying primarily on local volunteer talent.
