St. Norbert College received a $30,000 grant over three years from the NCAA for its St. Norbert Alcohol Choices & Knowledge (SNACK) program.

The goal of SNACK is to continue shifting the culture toward responsible attitudes and behaviors regarding alcohol consumption. It's specifically targeted to athletes and first-year students.

The college plans to promote responsible choices around alcohol; provide fun, safe, alcohol-free recreational alternatives on campus; and collaborate with athletics and other organizations on campus to evaluate the progress of the SNACK program at St. Norbert College.

St. Norbert is one of four Division III schools to be awarded a grant this cycle. A total of only 15 NCAA affiliated schools were awarded this year.
Tom Doughman, assistant director of counseling and psychological services, and Tim Bald, director of athletics, are co-administrators for the grant. Doughman believes the grant is important to St. Norbert College.

"We are thrilled to be chosen by the NCAA to receive this grant opportunity. Our goal is to continue to move the culture surrounding alcohol at St. Norbert toward healthy lifestyle choices, and the SNACK grant is a huge step in that direction," said Doughman.
