Laurel Wider, CEO and Founder of Wonder Crew, a toy inspired by boys that combines the adventure of an action figure with the emotional connection of a favorite stuffed animal, will be the guest on the Oct. "Conversations From St. Norbert College" television show hosted by Kevin Quinn, founding dean of the Donald J. Schneider School of Business & Economics at St. Norbert. The two will discuss the toy and its significance. Wonder Crew launched through a successful 2014 Kickstarter campaign, and since then has gained national recognition at the White House conference on gender in toys and media. As a mother to a son and a psychotherapist, Wider believes it is time to move beyond gender stereotypes and address the developmental needs of the whole child. Wonder Crew's aim is to empower all kids to see themselves as connected, creative, strong individuals with the ability to go anywhere and be anything. Wider is a licensed clinical social worker.
