The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) honored St. Norbert College as a leader among institutions of higher education for its support of volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement. St. Norbert was admitted to the 2015 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with distinction for its strong institutional commitment to service and compelling campus-community partnerships that produce measurable results. St. Norbert was one of only two colleges and universities in the state to receive the honor with distinction. St. Norbert, for the first time, was listed in all four community service honor roll categories (general, economic opportunity, education and interfaith).

The Corporation for National and Community Service has administered the Honor Roll since 2006. "This recognition highlights St. Norbert College's commitment to the community and the common good, a central part of the college's mission," said Nancy Mathias, director of the Sturzl Center for Community Service and Learning.

"St. Norbert students and employees served over 82,000 hours in the local community, across the nation and throughout the world. Through their work in many leadership and service programs and classes, students mentored and tutored youth, helped build homes, raised money for children and medical research, cleaned parks, researched community issues, worked with people experiencing homelessness, developed sustainable environmental practices, and participated in a host of other projects. The hours also included, for the first time, student-teaching and nonprofit internship hours. This nearly doubled the 45,000 hours we reported in 2014," Mathias added.
