Mara Brecht to Deliver Fall Pilgrim Forum Lecture at St. Norbert College

Mara Brecht will deliver a lecture for the Pilgrim Forum at St. Norbert College. The lecture will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 a.m. in the Hendrickson Dining Room of the Bemis International Conference Center. Registration is required at

Brecht, an assistant professor of theology and religious studies at St. Norbert College, will lecture on "Crucified Under Whom? Re-Evaluating the Execution of Christ and Redemptive Suffering." She will explore the meaning of "…suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried…" from the Apostles' Creed. Brecht earned a B.A. from Oberlin College, an M.A. in theology from Harvard Divinity School and a Ph.D. in theology from Fordham University.

The Pilgrim Forum is a series dedicated to sharing information and spurring discussion around the basic tenets of the Catholic faith and tradition, specifically the Apostles' Creed. Each semester, speakers examine a portion of the creed, breaking it open in discussion with attendees to understand more deeply what they believe.
