St. Norbert College Summer Music Theatre Announces 56th Season

Artistic director Dudley Birder has announced the musicals that will be in the upcoming St. Norbert College summer music theatre program. This, the 56th season, will be Birder's last as he steps away from music theatre after this summer's performances. The season will feature two major musicals: "Cats" and "The Showcase of Stars."

Andrew Lloyd Weber's all-time hit musical "Cats" returns, retaining the same 24-member cast as last season. It will feature performances on a variety of dates from June 8-22.

"The Showcase of Stars," a review consisting of selections from musicals during past seasons, will play July 19-22. It will feature St. Norbert College music theatre alumni from past seasons. It will be directed by James and Alicia Birder, with Dudley Birder organizing and arranging the music, in addition to serving as narrator.

Birder founded summer music theatre at St. Norbert in 1962 and has served as producer, director and/or musical director for all of the 96 musicals presented since that time. Although stepping away from music theatre after this summer's season, he will continue to direct the Dudley Birder Chorale at St. Norbert College, which he founded in 1974. Birder turned 90 on March 23.
